Henry was born in Verden, Oklahoma on January 17, 1926.? He came to San Jose, California in 1949 where he was a general building contractor, specializing in custom homes?for 27 years.? He moved to Merced County in 1977 where he enjoyed raising cattle as a hobby and eventually had a worm farm, raising worms for fishing and gardening.? He loved people and enjoyed working with those who needed recovery help and leading them to Christ.?? Marvin is preceded in death by his son Marvin J. Henry, Jr. who entered the next life in 1998 and by his granddaughter, Jeannette Marie Behrendt who went ahead in 2002, as well as his son-in-law, Peter Mauffray, also in 2002. He is survived by his friend, ex-wife Juanita L. Henry; his four daughters, Wanda Ledford of Merced, California, Marlene Waltz of Galt, California,?Sharon Butterworth of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and Lou Ann Henry of Russellville, Arkansas. Marvin will be missed?by his 3 grandchildren:? Nathaniel Douglas, Michael Douglas, Jeremy Farmer, Joy Behrendt, Tammy Butterworth, Jerod Gledhill, Erina Mauffray, Leah Henry, Alisha Henry, Rachel Henry, Amber Qualls, Jessica Beck, and Adrienne Balderama. Marvin is also survived by 6 great grandchildren:? DeWayne Qualls, Melanie Qualls, Brittani Douglas, Briana Douglas, Cassidy Phoenix, and Matthew Qualls. Viewing is open to?friends and family at Oakdale Memorial Chapel, located at 830 West F Street in Oakdale, California from the hours of 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2007.? Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at Oak Lawn Memorial Park, 241 N. Sierra Avenue, Oakdale, with reception following at Truth Tabernacle in Oakdale. Marvin Henry, age 81, left peacefully on June 3, 2007.??He loved his family and the Lord.?
