Persons or organizations desiring to use this material for purposes other than stated above must obtain the written consent of the file contributor. ====================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 21 October 2000 Maulcie Owensby Ishler Funeral service for Maulcie Owensby Ishler, 88, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 23, 2000 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Maulcie Owensby Ishler was born May 25, 1912 in Grove, Oklahoma the daughter of John and Sarah (Stewart) Buchanan, and died Friday, October 20, 2000 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Mrs. Ishler attended grade and high school at Grove. She was a graduate of Central State College at Edmond. She retired in June of 1974 after teaching school in Oklahoma for 35 years. The last 18 years of her teaching were done in the Chickasha School system. In October 1937, she married O.K. (Bud) Owensby. They taught school together in Caddo and Grady counties. To this union was born one son, Robert E. Owensby. Her husband, Bud, preceded her in death in November 1954. At that time, he was serving as County Superintendent of Schools in Grady County. On February 28, 1963, she married Shelby O. Ishler, who preceded her in death on March 10, 1975. Mrs. Ishler was a member of the First Christian Church of Chickasha and a member of the Tye Circle. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Pioneer Home Extension Club. Survivors include: 1 son and his wife: Robert E. and Della Owensby of Midwest City, Oklahoma; grandsons: Kelly Owensby and wife, Casandra, of Oklahoma City, Scott Owensby of Oklahoma City; 2 great grandsons: Kacey Wade Owensby, Michael Brock Owensby; 1 stepson: Dr. George H. Ishler and wife, Gretchen, of White Pigeon, Michigan and their three children; several nieces and nephews; host of friends. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church. The casket will be open until 10:30 a.m., Monday. The casket will not be open at the service.
