JACKSON (RET.) Funeral services for SFC Harold W. Jackson (Ret.), of Chickasha, Okla., are pending with Fletcher-Jefferson Funeral Home, of Lawton, Okla. Harold W. Jackson was born Sept. 21, 1934, and died on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 23 September 2004 SFC (RET.) HAROLD W. JACKSON Funeral for SFC (Ret.) Harold W. Jackson, 69, of Chickasha, will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 24, 2004, in Bethlehem Baptist Church of Lawton, with Gary E. Bender, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Ft. Sill National Cemetery under the direction of Jefferson Funeral Home. Military honors will be conducted at the gravesite. Harold Wayne Jackson departed this life on September 18, 2004. Harold was born September 21, 1934, in Paris, Texas, to Maurice Jackson and Hattie Margrette Rodgers. Harold was the oldest of two sons. Both parents preceded him in death. He attended Carver High School in Amarillo, Texas, where he excelled on the football team, and in 1978 he graduated from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha, Oklahoma, receiving a B.S. degree and a teaching certificate from the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Early in life, he united with Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas, where he was a young deacon under the pastorate of Reverend M. J. Steward. At the time of his death, he faithfully attended the New Post Chapel Church at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. He was a member of the United States Army, serving two tours in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, U.S. Army Military Recognition, and was a graduate of the Senior NCO Academy. He was granted a Certificate of Retirement from the Armed Forces for 20 years of "faithful and honorable" service on March 1, 1974. He was employed by the Department of Interior as a supervisor for the Young Adult Conservation Corp, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Widow Son Lodge No. 11 and served as Junior Warden and treasurer, served as Associate Patron for OES Purity Chapter #34, NAACP, recognized by the Oklahoma Historical Society's Black Heritage Committee, and listed in Personalities of America. His community service included volunteering at the Project Head Start and coashing kids' soccer games. He owned and operated "Jackson's Kool Spot," a mobile snow cone business, for more than 30 years. He met and married Loretta Y. Blunt in October, 1964, in Lawton, OK. Cherising his memory are survivors: his wife, Loretta Y. Jackson, Chickasha, Oklahoma; one daughter, Cynthia W. and husband Dr. Will Anderson of Lawton, Oklahoma; one son, Limon Jackson of Chickasha, Oklahoma; and six grandchildren, Afrisa Anderson of Lawton, Oklahoma, Quinton Jackson, Jacqualine Jackson, Randa Jackson, Travis Jackson, and Tammie Jackson, all of Chickasha, Oklahoma. He is also survived by a brother, Jack Thomas, and wife Corrine Miller, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a mother-in-law, Lillie B. Blunt, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, special cousins, Hattie Pearl and husband Luther Lewis, Roy and wife Val Watson of Kansas City, Missouri, and Weldon and wife Bobbie Watson of Amarillo, Texas; two aunts, Loretha O.
