Doug Johnson was born July 8, 1971, and died on Thursday, April 3, 2003, in Oklahoma City, Okla. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star No date DOUGLAS WAYNE JOHNSON Funeral service for Douglas Wayne Johnson, age 31, of Amber, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2003, in the First Baptist Church at Chickasha. Rev. Chuck Utsler will officiate and David Treadaway will assist. Douglas Wayne Johnson was born the son of Robert Johnson and Gail Hollandsworth Johnson on July 8, 1971, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He married Christal Shoemake on October 9, 1993, in Chickasha. Doug grew up in the Alex area and graduated from Alex High School. He was active in Football, baseball, basketball, FFA, as well as other school activities. Doug received an academic scholarship to the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, which he attended for three years. While attending USAO, he worked for Wood's Ditching. He then began working for Oklahoma Electric Coop where he has worked as a lineman for the last ten years. Doug started the mighty mite football program in Amber. He was a devoted husband and father. He was a member of the Pocasset First Baptist Church. Doug was preceded in death by an infant sister. Survivors include: Wife: Christal Johnson of Amber, son: Douglas Chase Johnson of Amber; son: Hayden Reid Johnson of Amber; parents Bob & Gail Johnson of Alex; father-in-law & mother-in-law: Charlie & Gwen Pyle of Marlow; grandparents: Bob & Leona Shoemake of Chickasha; aunt & uncle: Jane Shipley & Warren Stokes of Midwest City; many other loving family & friends. Interment will be in the Amber Cemetery.
