Johnson LAWTON - Sgt. 1st Class (retired) James M. Johnson, 61, of Duncan died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, in a Lawton hospital. Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Shephard Street Christian Church of Chickasha with the Rev. Richard Colbert officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Fort Sill National Cemetery under the direction of Jefferson Funeral Home of Lawton. The family will receive friends from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Fletcher - Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel in Chickasha. Mr. Johnson was born March 14, 1941, in Chickasha, to Jessie L. Mosley and Richard Johnson. He married Lucretia Cooper of Oct. 16, 1995, in Oklahoma City. Mr. Johnson graduated from Lincoln School in 1959. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 22, 1959, and served for over 20 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed by the Oklahoma State Employment Service for 19 years in both Chickasha and Duncan and moved to Duncan in 1993 from Chickasha. He was of the Protestant faith. Survivors include his wife, Lucretia, of Duncan; his children, Nicole Cooper of Duncan, Regina Cooper of Crockett, Texas, Candice Cooper of Edmond, Christopher Cooper of Lawton, and Neica Deeble and Rani Bowens, both of Duncan; two sisters, Dorothy McKensie of Moore and Wilma Jean Sanders of Roswell, N.M.; a brother, Walter Daniels of Chickasha; and five grandchildren.
