KETCHUM Clyde H. Ketchum, age 88, of Purcell, passed away Friday, November 28, 2003, at Sunset Estates Nursing Home in Purcell. He was born December 5, 1914, in Gunner, Texas. He was one of 13 children born to Robert Lee Ketchum and Jimmie Stephens, Clyde grew up in Pauls Valley and began working as a young man on cattle ranches in the Lindsay and Pauls Valley areas. He later moved to the South Okla. City area in 1948 and began working for the Oklahoma City Board of Education as a heavy equipment operator. He met and married Elsie Naylor Watkins. They were married on May 2, 1956, in Guthrie and continued living in OKC. He later worked as a truck driver for Fleck Bearing Co. for 17 1/2 years. After retirement in 1978, he moved to Purcell to be close to his sons. Clyde enjoyed horse trading, selling horse tack and handing out at the Purcell Livestock Auction. He also enjoyed drinking coffee and visiting with friends at Val's, Ruby's and Carl's, Jr. restaurants. He was preceded in death by: parents, Robert and Jimmie Ketchum; 1 daughter, Clydene Williamson; 2 sons, Wayne Ketchum and Tommy Ketchum; seven brothers and sisters including 3 infant siblings, 4 brothers: J. E., Claude, Woodrow, Whitie; 1 sister, Billie Joe; 3 grandchildren: Mandy Ketchum, Mike Ketchum and Skeeter William. He is survived by: Elsie of the home; 3 sons: Henry Ketchum and wife Pat of Purcell, James Ketchum and wife Alice of Chickasha, Paul Ketchum and wife Alice of Purcell; 1 daughter, Aline Tedder of Duncan; daughter-in- law, Shirley Ketchum of Alex; 2 brothers: Buddy Ketchum of Visalia, CA, Johnny Ketchum and wife Rachael of Granite; 2 sisters: Tamsey Lucille Smith of McAllen, TX, Belle Russell of Norman; 22 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2003, at Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell, with Rev. Bill Irwin officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Pauls Valley. Pallbearers were Kenneth Hawkins, Max Whitfield, Roy Shelton, Johnny Oswalt, Mike Phillips, Jim Rowland, John Shepherd.
