All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 2 March 2004 HERBERT "HERB" SILAS KEIM Graveside service for Herbert "Herb" Silas Keim, 90, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Walters, Oklahoma. Herbert "Herb" Silas Keim was born February 5, 1914, in Walters, Oklahoma, the son of George Herbert and Alice Mary (Marsh) Keim, the 4th of 9 children. He died March 1, 2004, in Chickasha. Mr. Keim grew up in Walters, Oklahoma. As a young child, he had infantile paralysis (polio), but did not let that stop him. He graduated from Walters High School in 1932 and worked around Walters until World War II. He wanted to serve his country during the was but was unable to because of physical limitations. He went to Wichita, Kansas, and began working for Boeing Aircraft where he worked for 34 years in Wichita and Seattle, Washington. He was a lifetime member of the International Association Mechanist Union. After he retired March 1, 1976, he moved to Chickasha. Mr. Keim was golden member of blood donation. He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He enjoyed family and especially great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Mr. Keim was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Sam Keim and his wife, Ruby Lee, Bob Keim, and Howard Keim; two brothers-in-law, Harold Paepke and Ray Berendzen; sister-in-law, Polly Keim; niece, Nancy Keim; and nephew, Dick Keim. Survivors include his two brothers Al Keim of Chickasha, and Dan Keim of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three sisters, Ruby Nell Berendzen of Walters, Oklahoma, Berry Garcia of Berkley, California, and Esther Paepke of Grand Rapids, Michigan; sister-in-law, Doria Keim of Norman, Oklahoma; 17 nieces and nephews, and a host of great and great great nieces and nephews. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F.
