Verna Burse Kendrick was born April 16, 1909, in Ninnekah, and died on Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, in Lawton. ===== The Chickasha Express-Star 1 March 2001 Verna Burse Kendrick Graveside funeral service for Verna Burse Kendrick, age 91, of Lawton, Oklahoma, formerly of the Ninnekah and Chickasha area, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2001, at the Ninnekah Cemetery. Rev. Alvin McConnell will officiate. Verna Burse Kendrick was born on April 16, 1909, in Ninnekah, Oklahoma, the daughter of Thomas Gaines Marshall and Lula Jane English Marshall. She died on Monday, February 26, 2001, in Lawton. Verna was born and raised in the Ninnekah area. She lived in Ninnekah most of her life moving to Chickasha in 1976. Verna worked as a nurseÕs aide at Grady Memorial Hospital and for Dr. McDougal. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and three sisters. Verna was also preceded in death by her husbands, Roy Bates and Doc Kendrick, and one son. Survivors include niece, Jeanneane Lake of State Line, Nevada; niece, Maxine Richardson of Oklahoma City; niece, Ghlena Doris Oldshield of Lawton; one nephew, Clarence Marshell. Interment will be in the Ninnekah Cemetery under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
