KNOWLES Funeral service for Durrell K. Knowles, 79, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2002, at the First Christian Church. Durrell K. Knowles was born March 8, 1923, in Ada, Oklahoma, the son of Oscar and Marguerite (Pearcy) Knowles and died October 18, 2002, in Oklahoma City. Mr. Knowles came to Chickasha as a small boy. He graduated from Chickasha High School in 1940. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma and his master's degree from Oklahoma State University. Mr. Knowles taught vocational auto mechanics at Tulsa; Wichita, Kansas; and Chickasha. He later taught aeromechanics at Canadian Valley Vo-Tech in El Reno. He was also a certified flight instructor. He and Clorinda Beth Huffines were married in 1947. She preceded him in death in 1977. He later married Tommie Pesterfield. She preceded him in death in 2001. Mrs. Knowles served during World War II as a C47 pilot for the U.S. Army Air Forces, serving in France and Belgium. He was a member of the First Christian Church. Mr. Knowles was also preceded in death by: parents, Oscar and Marguerite Knowles; 2 brothers: Gaylord Knowles and Joe Knowles. Survivors include: 1 daughter, Sarah Smith and husband, Larry, of Chickasha; 3 sons: Kerry Knowles of Norman, Oklahoma, Tim Knowles and wife, Geri, of Chickasha, George Knowles; 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery Under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. --------------------------------------------------------------------
