All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Washita Valley Herald 22 November 1963 Funeral services for Jess Harold Karnes, 51, were held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Ledbetter officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Coryln Ferris of Elderberry. Music was by Mrs. W. A. Finley and Mrs. Chester Heavin with Mrs. Max Upchurch accompanying. Pallbearers were Ewell Elder, John Elder, Chester Heavin, Lester Heavin, Paul DeBoard and Raymond Ferris. Interment was in Verden Cemetery under the direction of Hansen Funeral Home. Mr. Karnes was born in the Elderberry community and had lived near Verden most of his life. He died in a Clinton hospital after a short illness. Survivors are three sons.
