LOY, JR. Memorial services for James (Jim) W. Loy, Jr., 55, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, previously of Chickasha, will be held Monday, June 24, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. James (Jim) W. Loy, Jr., was born April 26, 1947, in Oklahoma City. He died Thursday, June 20, 2002, in Chickasha. Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. ==================== The Chickasha Express-Star 23 June 2002 JAMES (JIM) W. LOY, JR. James (Jim) W. Loy, Jr., 55, passed away at his parents' home in Chickasha, on June 20, 2002. He was the victim of multiple myeloma, a rare type of cancer. Jim was born April 26, 1947, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. He attended public schools in Chickasha and also attended the University of Oklahoma. After beginning a radio job at KWCO in Chickasha in 1967, Jim began an extensive career as broadcast journalist. He served as television reporter, anchor, executive producer and news director at network affiliate stations in Oklahoma, Florida, California, Texas, New Mexico and most recently, Michigan. A highlight of Jim's career was three years as a field producer for CBS News where he worked with such newsmen as Dan Rather and Harry Smith. Jim was an accomplished golfer and enjoyed fishing and boating. He especially loved Oklahoma and New Mexico along with the art and artifacts associated with the Southwest. He was an avid fan of Oklahoma football, having served as a student manager in 1965. Jim is survived by his daughter, Taylor, 12, of Kansas City; his very close friend Beth Barney; his parents, Jim and Duane Loy; a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Debbie Loy of Waimanolo, HI; a sister and brother-in-law, Dana Loy and Juan Colin of Norman, OK; and nieces Sarah Loy and Mariana Colin, both of Norman, OK. Memorials may be made to The Chickasha Public School Foundation, or a charity of personal choice. Memorial services will be held Monday, June 24, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel.
