She passed away at her home in Chickasha, OK, on October 1, 2004, following a long illness. Jeanette was one of seven children, two now deceased, Wayne, Beatrice, Myrna, Everette, Gerald & Delores. Jeanette married Willie Jordan (Bill) Lechtenberger, who was born and raised in nearby Helvey, Nebraska. They have three children, Jerry Bill of Norma, Oklahoma, David Charles (who preceded her in death on July 16, 2001), and Myrna Madaline Martin of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Three spousal in-laws, Maria Gardosik Lechtenberger, Sharlynn Carrico Lechtenberger & F. H. Martin (who preceded her in death on September 12, 1987). Eight grandchildren, Todd Lechtenberger, Lisa Adams, Cindy Smith, Beth Johnson, Chad Lechtenberger, Doug Martin, Jennifer Haffner and Kimberly Butt. Eleven great grandchildrem, Clara Smith, Allison Smith, Moses Lechtenberger, Maya Lechtenberger, Olivia Johnson, Samuel Johnson, Charlie Johnson, Emma Adams, Eli Adams, Madalynn Haffner, and Ella Haffner. Jeanette and Bill were both members of Epworth United Methodist Church of Chickasha, Oklahoma. Jeanette and Bill had various 'family businesses' through their marriage, living in Geneva, Nebraska; North Platte, Nebraska; Lakeview, Arkansas; Harrison, Arkansas and moving to Chickasha, Oklahoma in 1965 when Bill began a new business in Food Services. Jeanette was a very talented artist who generously passed on many of her paintings to her children and grandchildren. She beautifully painted and dressed many China dolls, to the delight of her granddaughters. Her artistic eye was evident in her always beautifully decorated home which she loved to go 'all out' in decorating during the Christmas season having their home on the 'Christmas Tour of Homes' on more than on occasion. Jeanette was a marvelous hostess and it was a rare occasion when anyone, family or friend, left her home without feeling stuffed. You would be hard pressed to find anyone who was more selfless and had a genuine deep true love of family than 'Meemaw' Jeanette. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. The graveside service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on October 4, 2004, at the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, Oklahoma. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Grady County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/grady/grady.html
