"PAT" LESTER James C. "Pat" Lester was born June 16, 1932, in Brownwood, Texas, to Fred C. and Effie Orlou (Pankhurst) Lester, and passed from this life on Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 6 days. He grew up in Holliday, Texas, and graduated from high school there. He attended Northwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. On July 14, 1953, he and the former Janelle Ruth Cook were married in Wichita Falls. He served in the United States Army from 1953 through 1955 and did a tour of duty in Germany. He worked for a number of oil companies, and had been with American Patrofina for 20 years when he retired from his work as production foreman. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Holliday, and was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed playing golf, and loved going to the horse races. Pat was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bobby and Eddie Mack Lester. Survivors include his wife Janelle; daughter Jacqueline Callahan; granddaughters Crystal Newton and her husband Steve, and Cassidy Callahan; great granddaughters Caitlin Newton and Gracie Newton, all of Anadarko; sisters, Freddie Jean Hewitt of Holliday, Texas, and Linda Lou Mankins of Dundee, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Service will be at graveside at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2003, at the Holliday, Texas Cemetery, with Rev. Chuck Gilbert, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Anadarko, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Steverson Funeral Home.
