She passed from this life on Thursday, December 20, 2001, at the Grace Living Center in Chickasha, Oklahoma, at the age of 69 years, 1 month and 5 days, following a graceful and valiant battle with cancer. Following her graduation from high school, Janet attended the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. She earned a scholarship to study voice in Zurick, Switzerland, and later taught music for many years in New England and Oklahoma City. She served as music director at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Anadarko for 14 years, and at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Chickasha for 7 years. While in Anadarko, she was a member of St. Patrick?s Catholic Church, and belonged to the Women?s Group and Kateri Circle there. She was also a member of the Anadarko Lions Club. She moved to Chickasha 7 years ago and was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Lane, her parents and her brother, Jack Petree. Survivors include her two sons, Kevin Scott James and his wife Sharon Joan, of Brookline, Massachusetts, and Kurt Dee James and his wife Julie Ann, of East Craftsbury, Vermont; 5 grandchildren, Alison, Clayton, Kendall, Caroline and Audrey; several other relatives, including an aunt, Bernetta Petree KeKinder, of Chickasha; cousins, Rev. Charles Roberts and his wife Ginger, of Chickasha, Ben DeKinder and his wife Joan, of Chickasha, Billie Marie Hays and her husband Bob, of Chickasha, Jackie Wingo White of Anadarko, and JayDee Wingo of Muskogee; also a sister-in-law, Nancy Petree of Edmond; an aunt Doris Wingo, of Lawton; other relatives, and many loving, thoughtful friends, including her close friends Frances Doak, Mary Jessen and Angela Hamilton. There will be a Rosary Service Wednesday evening, December 26, at 7:00 p.m., at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Chickasha; The funeral mass will be there also, at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 27, with the Pastor, Fr. Elmer Schwartz, and her former pastor in Anadarko, Fr. Michael Wheelahan, now of Medford, Oklahoma, officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery at Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, under the direction of Steverson Funeral Home of Anadarko, Oklahoma.
