Mark Johnson officiating. Beryl Lumpkin was born June 28, 1920, in Hope, Oklahoma, the son of Charley Lumpkin and Ella Starkey Lumpkin. He died Wednesday, August 14, 2002, in Chickasha. Beryl moved from Hope in 1927 to the Minco and Union City farming areas. He was later employed moving houses in Stillwater. During 1938, he rode in the Rodeo Circuit. In the 1960s he resided and worked in the Pocasset, Friend and Chickasha areas as well as Collinsville, Oathurst, Ellsworth, KS, Frontier Shores, Old Prue, New Prue, and Hominy, OK. He came to Chickasha in 2002 from Hominy, Oklahoma. Beryl was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was affectionately known by most of his friends as "Snuffy." He was a member of the Holiness Church. Beryl was preceded in death by his father in 1933, his mother in 1980, three brothers, Frank Lumpkin, Clifford Lumpkin, Bob Garnet Lumpkin, one sister, Aleace Ventris. His son Roger Garland Lumpkin also preceded him in death in 1974. He was also preceded in death by grandparents John Lumpkin in 1921 and Lizzie Lumpkin in 1923; grandparents William Starkey and Volito Starkey in 1962. Beryl is survived by his twin sister Bernice Taylor of Arkansas; daughters Berldean Rainwater of Oklahoma City, OK, Margie May of Chickasha, OK, and Patricia Phillips of Midwest City, OK; sons John (Jackie) Lumpkin of Chickasha, OK, and Charlie Lumpkin of Seminole, OK; and 16 grandchildren.
