Reverend Al Walters pastor and minister officiating. Wildie Lynch was born August 15, 1908, in Brenham, Texas. He moved to Chickasha at an early age. After moving to Chickasha, he united with the New Hope Baptist Church. While at the church, Wildie served in several capacities. He was a deacon, church treasurer, Sunday school teacher, a member of the senior choir and did whatever he could to help and promote the good for the Church. Wildie Lynch served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He started work as a custodian at Lincoln School in June of 1951 at the age of 43. He was employed for the Chickasha Public School system at Lincoln School for 47 years. While at Lincoln school, Mr. Lynch gained notoriety when the kids found out that he could say his ABCs backwards. After nearly five decades of watching thousands of children pass through a milestone in their education and move on, Lynch would see familiar faces from gradeschoolers to former students who are now in their 50s. Even though later in life, he began to struggle with all the students’ names, he never forgot their faces. Mr. Lynch started work at Lincoln school during segregation. He knew every building. He polished every floor and painted every wall. He knew the ins and outs of the steam tunnels surrounding the buildings. He knew what year each building was constructed and when they were remodeled. In December of 1998, the Lincoln cafeteria was named in his honor. Wildie Lynch retired from the Chickasha Public School system four years ago at the age of 90. Wildie Lynch united in holy matrimony unto Ida Jackson on October 6, 1938, in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Wildie was preceded in death by both parents. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ida Lynch; two sisters: James May Edwards of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and Fern Smitteth of Long Beach, California. There are other relatives, and he is also survived by thousands of students who will always honor his memory. Interment will be at Fairlawn cemetery under the direction of Brown/Christian Funeral Home. --------------------------------------------------------------------
