Persons or organizations desiring to use this material for purposes other than stated above must obtain the written consent of the file contributor. ====================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 8 July 2002 ALBERT ARTHUR "ART" McVEY Funeral service for Albert Arthur "Art" McVey, age 85, of Verden, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at the Verden First Baptist Church. Rev. Johnny Wray will officiate. Art was born the son of Albert Sidney McVey and Clara Rollins McVey on December 16, 1916, in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. He died on July 6, 2002, at his home in Verden. Art moved to Verden with his family when he was a young child. As a young man, he began farming and ranching with his father. After graduating from Verden High School, he continued working on the farm. On April 19, 1941, he married Lida Lois Taylor in Kansas City, Kansas. He and Lida made their home in Verden, where he was a farmer and rancher all of his life. Art was a fifty-year member of the Verden Masonic Lodge and a former member of the Elks Lodge in Chickasha. He also started on the Verden School Board, as well as the Board of Directors at the Bank of Verden. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Will McVey. Survivors include: his wife, Lida McVey, of the home; son and daughter-in-law: Sidney and Beverly McVey, of Sapulpa; grandson, Ryan McVey, of Sapulpa; granddaughter, Adrienne McVey, of Sapulpa; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Parkinson's Disease Research, 825 N.E. 13th, Oklahoma City, OK 73104. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the McRay's Verden Funeral Home.
