McVey was born November 16, 1857 in Knox County, Kentucky and passed away December 7, 1941 at the home of his son, John B. McVey near Anadarko, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years and 21 days. Brother McVey was united in marriage to Amelia Jane Vaughn in 1880 at Jellico, Tennessee. To this union was born six sons: Dr. George M.; Everet C.; Grover C.; Albert S.; Richard C.; and John B. and Everet C. preceded him in death in 1912 and his wife preceded him in death in 1930. Brother McVey moved to Oklahoma with his family in the year 1907 and located in Verden, at which place he has made his home since. He joined the Masonic Lodge in Williamsburg, Ky. and was an honorary member of the Verden Lodge at the time of his death. Brother McVey was a member of the First Baptist church of Verden. He has been a member of the Missionary Baptist church for more than fifty years. He leaves to mourn his departure five sons, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
