Lubbock Avalanche-Journal 10 Aug 1997 George McCleskey Memorial services for George W. McCleskey of Lubbock will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Revs. D.L. Lowrie, John H. Ballard and Roy C. McClung officiating. Private burial was Saturday under direction of Rix Funeral Directors. McCleskey died Friday, Aug. 8, 1997. He was born in Rush Springs, Okla., and graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1939. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and had served as chairman of the Texas Supreme Court's Advisory Committee on Rules of Civil Procedure for 12 years. He served on several State Bar committees and on the Texas Water Development Board for 12 years. He was a member and past president of the Lubbock County Bar Association. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He was a member and former chairman of the Board of Deacons of First Baptist Church, and he had served on the board of Wayland Baptist University. He married Mary Belle Hall on Feb. 18, 1941, in San Antonio. Survivors include his wife; a son, George H. of Lubbock; a daughter, Ann Trask of Austin; and six grandchildren.
