Agnes Gwendylon McClain was born February 10, 1918, in Mountain View, Oklahoma, the daughter of Robert High and Verda Lee (Dudgeon) Pearcy, and died December 21, 2003, in Oklahoma City. Not long after she was born, the family moved to a farm near Amber. Her grandfather, William J. Pearcy, was one of the first carpenters in Chickasha, and he and her uncle, Albert, built many of the finest homes in Chickasha. She attended school and graduated from Amber. She lived in Grady County most of her life. She and Ray McClain were married December 24, 1934, in Chickasha. They lived at Union Hill, where Ray worked for George Beeler for seven years; then in California, where ray was employed in the shipyard. They came back to Chickasha in 1944. Agnes worked for twenty years in Russell Long's grocery store. She managed the grocery store from 1955-1959. She was a member of the First Christian Church. Agnes was a wonderful homemaker and helper in the church. In the Bible, the book of Romans was a favorite of hers, especially chapter 14:13-15. The Lord's Prayer was also a favorite. Her mother always used to caution her, "in this life if you put nothing into it, you get nothing out." This was a sort of motto of hers, and certainly she gave of herself for others. She was preceded in death by: Her husband, Ray McClain; 1 great grandson, Justin Pettet; sisters: Darleen Harriet Eichenberger, Geraldine Rosa Smith. Survivors include: 1 daughter, Nadine McClain Baker and husband, Wayne, of Oklahoma City; 1 son, Gerald Ray McClain and wife, Muna, of Stillwater, Oklahoma; 2 sisters: Emma Lee Black of Ardmore, Oklahoma; Mary Louise Pfiffer of Gravette, Arkansas; 3 brothers: Robert Hugh (R.
