All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::New Velma Cemetery--Velma OK Duncan Banner 10/17/2002 Bobby Eugene McCown VELMA — Bobby Eugene McCown, 63, of Velma left this life on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, in Duncan Regional Hospital. Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Velma Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Childers officiating. Burial will be in the New Velma Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. Visitation will be in the Grantham Velma Chapel. Mr. McCown was born Jan. 23, 1939, in Marlow, to Hampton “Shorty” and Pearl Jewel Calger McCown. He married Ruby Kirkpatrick on March 5, 1962, in Rush Springs. Mr. McCown was in the United States Army Reserve for six years. He operated a saw mill for 20 years and retired as an engineer with the Velma Gas Plant. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Mr. McCown was a member of Velma Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Faye and Gary Morris of Marlow; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Gene and Mehri McCown of Velma; a brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Karen McCown of Duncan; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Evelyn Moorse of Fox, Virginia Turner of Marlow, and Margaret and Harold Epp of Central High; four grandchildren, Jessie Dwain and Jillian Renee Morris of Marlow, and Christina and Brandon McCown of Velma; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Andy McCown and Sam McCown.
