"MAC" McGOWAN Funeral service for W. D. "Mac" McGowan, 80, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Chickasha, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2003, at the Bible Baptist Church. W. D. "Mac" McGowan was born August 4, 1923, in Texas, the son of Sam and Gerdie McGowan, and died December 21, 2003, in Oklahoma City. Mr. McGowan moved to Chickasha in 1965. He lived in Chickasha for a number of years. He had lived in Oklahoma City for the past 13 years. He and Dhybon Chambers were married October 14, 1966. Mr. McGowan worked as a welder and truck driver. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was with the Normandy Invasion. He received the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Mr. McGowan was preceded in death by 1 sister and 3 grandchildren. Survivors include: Wife, Dhybon McGowan, of the home; children: Sharon of Ohio, Karen McGowan of California, Mike McGowan of California, Grady Chambers and wife, Vicky, of Ninnekah, Jimmy Chambers of Oklahoma City, Jewel Frederick and husband, Buzz, of Sallisaw, Wade Chambers and wife, Marla, of Oklahoma City; 2 sisters: Louise Miller and Bernice Ponders; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandchild.
