Persons or organizations desiring to use this material for purposes other than stated above must obtain the written consent of the file contributor. ====================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 26 August 2001 Mattie Oleva Stilwell McCONNELL Funeral service for Mattie Oleva Stilwell McConnell, age 85, of Chickasha, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2001, in the Binyon Funeral Home Chapel, Blanchard, Oklahoma. Rev. Larry Hatfield, pastor of Grand Avenue Assembly of God Church, Chickasha, Oklahoma, will officiate. Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday at the Hopewell Cemetery, Bowie, Texas. Rev. Kyle Payne, Shamrock, Texas, will officiate. Oleva was born the daughter of Virgie Hopkins Lyons and Alex Lyons on January 15, 1916, near Stoneburg, Texas. She died Friday, August 24, 2001, in Chickasha. She attended school at Littlehull and Stoneburg, Texas. Oleva extended her education in real estate school in San Diego, California. On July 24, 1932, she married Audrey O. Stilwell in Waurika, Oklahoma. They made their home in Chickasha, Oklahoma in 1940. He preceded her in death on February 4, 1961. She later married Bill McConnell. Oleva lived in California for several years. She was a retired sales associate of Singer's Portrait Studio in the Armed Services YMCA in San Diego, California, and is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #0201 in San Diego. For many years Oleva made her home in Wichita Falls, Texas. She is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary #2147 in Wichita Falls. Mrs. McConnell returned to Chickasha to be near her daughter because of failing health. Oleva was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William Thomas Lyons. Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Geraldine and Richard Hallmark of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Mary and Lynn Ladd of Blanchard, Oklahoma; son and his wife, Charles and Brenda Stilwell of Cypress, Texas; son, Danny Stilwell of Dixon, California; brother and his wife, Glen and Betty Lyons of Wichita Falls, Texas; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery, Bowie, Texas, by Binyon Funeral Home of Blanchard.
