Mccortney Funeral services for Mildred A. McCortney are scheduled for Thursday, April 25, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. in the Midway Baptist Church in Pernell, with Rev. Dave Garrett officiating. Interment will be in Tussy Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. Mildred A. McCortney was born on March 9, 1919, in Tupelo, Oklahoma, to James A. and Fanny (Farmer) Ketcherside, and passed from this life on April 22, 2002, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, at the age of 83 years. Mildred grew up and attended school in Tupelo, Oklahoma. On September 29, 1936, she married Ruben Marten McCortney in Duncan, Oklahoma. She loved gardening and growing beautiful flowers and had a "green thumb like no other." The highlights of her life were her children and grandchildren. She was a person of high moral character who believed in the value of hard work. Mrs. McCortney is survived by: 3 daughters: Jane Terrell and her husband, Sonny, of Chickasha, OK, Methel Haslam and her husband, Joe, of Shawnee, OK, and Lavonda Brown, of Oklahoma City, OK; 3 sisters: Ella Smith, of Oklahoma City, OK, Avis Flannery, of Manteca, California and Lillian LaFevers, of Ada, OK; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and one on the way. Mrs. McCortney was preceded in death by her parents, James and Fanny Ketcherside; her husband, Ruben McCortney; her son, Lyndell McCortney; her sister, Posey Otto; three brothers, Ernest, Efton and Elmo Ketcherside; and her grandson Dewayne Burleson.
