Paul T. McWhorter, one of Oklahoma's pioneer ministers and for many years a resident of this city, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. Martinez at Anadarko, Friday April 14, age 72 years, two months and 8 days. He leaves to mourn his departure, an aged wife, Mrs. Paul T. McWhorter of Anadarko, Okla., and five daughters, Mrs. Andre Martinez, Anadarko; Mrs. Wm. Lamb, Mrs. S. Hostick and Mrs. R. E. Wilson, all of Verden, and Mrs. Claud Barreck of California, besides many grandchildren and a host of friends who have known him for many years. Rev. McWhorter came to Oklahoma as a missionery preacher several years ago and filled his station well. Next week we will publish a more complete memorial of this good and faithful man, from the pen of one who has known him as a friend and co-worker for many years. His death came after a lingering illness and the end was as peaceful as if he had gone to sleep. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and this order had charge of the funeral. Rev. Mann, pastor of the M. E. church preached the funeral sermon Saturday afternoon and he was layed to rest in our silent city of the dead followed by a large concourse of relatives and friends.
