Services are pending with Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Newcastle. ========= Norman Transcript October 16, 2003 Coy D. McCarty Coy D. McCarty, 71, of Bridge Creek died Monday, Oct. 13, at his home. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Assembly of God Church in Watonga with the Revs. Ken Isom and Doug Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at East Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Newcastle is handling arrangements. Mr. McCarty was born Jan. 22, 1932, in Rule, Texas, to Clarence Elvis and Lucille Jacobs McCarty. He grew up on farms in Texas and in Oklahoma and moved to Watonga when he was 9 years old. He joined the Navy in 1947. He served 22 years before retiring as a senior chief in 1970. He was a specialist and instructor in electronics, radars and sonars during his career. He served in the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War. He spent time on the USS Will Rogers, USS James Madison, USS Tiru, USS Barbero, USS Norton, USS Franklin D. Roosevelt and USS Wright. He married Betty Thompson Sept. 15, 1990, in Las Vegas. They moved to Bridge Creek in 1998. Mr. McCarty is survived by his wife, Betty of the home; step-daughter, Connie Bennett of Las Vegas; brothers, Duane McCarty and wife, Pat, of Watonga and Jack McCarty and wife, Darlene, of Mustang; sisters, Lodema Knisley of Watonga, Doris Anderson of Lakewood, Calif., Juanita Potts of Coweta and Mary Lou McCarty of Mission Viejo, Calif.; grandchildren, Jennifer, Matthew and Nicole Bennett; great-granddaughter, Eryn Logan Bennett; and many other family members and friends. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Grady County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/grady/grady.html
