Chickasha. John Ed Mathews was born August 2, 1937, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the son of John R. and Rosabell (Johnson) Mathews, and died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, in Chickasha. He and Lula Schibbelhute were married December 20, 1983, in Hog Creek, Oklahoma. Mr. Mathews was retired. He had worked at a grocery store, was a jailer at the Grady County Sheriff's office, was a motel manager and had pastored churches in Putnam and Clinton, Oklahoma. He also served as Sunday school superintendent, song leader and Sunday school teacher. He was preceded in death by: his mother: Rosabell Mathews in 1983; father: John R. Mathews in 1981; 1 brother: J.C. Mathews 1982; first wife: Barbara Mathews in 1981. Survivors include: his wife: Lula Mathews of the home; 2 sons: Donnie Mathews and wife, Lisa, of, Chickasha, Oklahoma, Paul Mathews of Ninnekah, Oklahoma; 3 daughters: Debra Keener and husband, Don, of Duncan, Oklahoma, Karen Mathews of Irving, Texas, Sandra Lopez of Maypearl, Texas; 2 stepsons: Rickey Joe Travis, Joe S. Travis, Jr.; 1 stepdaughter: Rita Goodrich and husband, Ron; 14 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and 4 step grandchildren. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Seviers Funeral Home.
