Persons or organizations desiring to use this material for purposes other than stated above must obtain the written consent of the file contributor. =============================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 28 May 2002 Vincent Harold Mattingly September 10, 1923 - May 26, 2002 Vince, the son of Harold Mattingly and Dorothy Johnson Mattingly, was born in Washington, D.C. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. Frances Wood of Greeley, Nebraska, met Vince on a blind date, and they were married three months later on January 24, 1951, in Omaha. The immediately moved to Arizona so Vince could attend the University of Arizona in Tucson. He graduated in 1955 with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. Vince moved his family to California where he pursued his career in housing development until he retired in 1981. Vince and Fran spent their retirement traveling around the United States. They lived for nine years in Guadalajara, Mexico, before moving to Chickasha, Oklahoma, in 1998. Vince is survived by his wife Fran, and his children: Janet Thompson and her husband bill, of Santa Clarita, California; Ann Dyer and her husband John, of Chickasha, Oklahoma; and Russell Mattingly and his wife Kirsten, of Apollo Beach, Florida. Vince loved his twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson who were a constant source of pride: James, Jennifer, Joseph, John, Jaclyn, Jeffrey, Kevin, Meghan, Kellen, Mallory, Dylan, Ryan and Zane. Vince enjoyed his work, painting, dancing, bridge, poker and traveling. His children, grandchildren and friends especially loved listening to his stories about great adventures. A private family memorial will be held at the home of John and Ann Dyer.
