"RED" MEDDINGS Donald C. "Red" Meddings, 77, was born in St. Albans, W.V., on November 4, 1924, and returned to our Lord on June 26, 2003. Red was a beloved member of the Marlaing Church of Christ and a loving husband to Kitty Meddings for nearly 54 years. His leadership and unwavering Christian example will be greatly missed. Red left this world with a desire for all of his family and friends to join him in heaven. Red was an Army veteran of WW II. He retired from the Chessie Systems, R.R. in 1985, after 33 years of service as a conductor. He was a proud member of the National Riffle Association, and enjoyed many hobbies. Some of these were barbering, building birdhouses, fishing with friends, hunting with his sons, and camping with his grandkids. He was an avid bird watcher and an accomplished conservationist/"wildlife population control specialist." Red is preceded in death by his parents, Norris Meddings and Bessie Rowsey Meddings, brothers Bill and Paul Meddings, sister Juanita Johnson, and grandson Daniel Edward Meddings, Jr. He is survived by his loving mate Kathleen "Kitty" Cadwallender Meddings; his brother James Meddings of St. Albans W.V., and sister Virginia Stinnett of Madison, WI; his three children and their spouses: son and daughter-in-law Donald C. "Don" Meddings, Jr. and Lana Harless Meddings of St. Albans, W.V., daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Alan Weed of Chickasha, OK, and son Daniel E. Meddings of Leon, W.V. Visitation was held Sunday, June 29, 2003, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Memorial service was held Monday, June 30, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. Services were conducted at Bartlett & Chapman Funeral Home, 409 6th Ave., St. Albans, W.V. Burial was at Cunningham Memorial Park; no graveside service was conducted. Ministers Darrell Bledsoe and Bob Kessinger conducted the memorial service, assisted by family and other members of the Church of Christ.
