"J.W. Morris, 77, Funeral Held Here Wednesday Funeral services for J.W. Morris, 77, was held Wednesday, from the Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. C. W. Spencer doing the preaching. Interment was made in the local cemetery with Callaway and Mullican directing. Mr. Morris, who had lived in and around Rush Springs for many years, died in Chickasha, where he was taken few days ago in order to be nearer his doctor. He had been seriously ill for the past few weeks. Pall bearers at the funeral were Henry Sweaney, Tom and Bill Yeager, Claude Underwood, Haskel Bruner and Ralph Pruitt. John Wesley Morris was born in Springfield, Illinois, on the 22nd of December, 1866. He was 77 years, 8 months and 17 days of age. He is survived by his wife, Hattie Morris, four sons and three daughters; Guy Morris, Permona, Calif.; Paul Morris Ender, New Mexico; Effie Morre, Portland, Oregon; Blanche Bond, Rush Springs; Mont Morris, Portland, Oregon; Carl Morris, Rush Springs; Hazel Grissom, Cement; 27 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Abbie Guthrie, Dinuba, Calif.; Mrs. Virginia Madison, Fredrick; Mrs. Chess Smith, Mangum; Mrs. G.E. Key, Chickasha; and Mrs. Minnie Reeves of Chickasha.
