"Doc" Morley, retired manager of Escott's Grocery in Cushing, died Thursday, April 4, 1991, in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 79. His funeral is planned Tuesday, April 9, at 2 p. m., in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Marvin Kehl officiating. Dr. Tom Owens will assist. A private burial will be held in Fairlawn Cemetery. Davis Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Persons wishing to make memorial contributions are directed by the family to the First Baptist Church. Morley was born in Greenfield on June 8, 1911, the son of Charles E. and Bessie (Ridge) Morley. The family came to Cushing when he was a teen and he graduated from high school there in 1932. He married Wilma Christie on Nov. 29, 1936, in Cushing. He was in the Navy from 1942 to 1945. Morley worked for Escott's for more than 43 years, retiring in 1982. He worked in the Cushing store for all but a short time when he was manager of the store in Altus. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and its Personnel Committee. He was chairman of deacons for many years and was director of an adult Sunday school class for several years. He was predeceased by a brother, Thurman Morley, as infant sister, and a grandchild, Karen S. Cranston. Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Kendall (Kaye) Cranston of Coshocton, Ohio; and two grand- children, Brian and Stay Cranston. He is also survived by two brothers, David H. Morley of Bartlesville and Maurice V. Morley of Belen, N. M. Submitted by Sandi Carter :)
