All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 18 August 2004 JACK NEWTON NYE Jack Newton Nye of Bradley, Oklahoma, passed away on August 16, 2004, at the age of 93. Jack was born September 13, 1910, to Arthur Wilson Nye and Etta Sofa Nye in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Jack and Forrest Tollison were married in Alex, Oklahoma, on April 27, 1935, by Justice of the Peace Judge Chambers. Jack and Forrest made their home in Bradley, Oklahoma, and lived and raised their family there. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bradley, Oklahoma. Jack was also the sexton of the Bradley Cemetery for many years. Jack enjoyed fishing and gardening and basically just doing hard manual work. He farmed in his early years and worked at the Bradley School as a janitor and school bus driver until his retirement in 1980. He is preceded in death by Arthur and Etta Nye, his wife, Forrest Nye, two sons, Gerald Dean and Jack Ray Nye, three brothers, Bob Nye, A. W. Nye, Jr., and Sam Nye, two sisters; Margie Abby, and Audrey Rodgers. Jack is also preceded in death by one grandson, David Gene Beets, a granddaughter- in-law, Christina Nye, and great granddaughters, Nicole Nye and Emily Nye. Jack is survived by his children; Harvey, Nye, Norman, OK, Betty Riggle, Moore, OK, Billy Ray Nye, Bradley, OK, Mary Mantooth, Perryton, Texas, Alfred Nye, Cleveland, OK, Ronnie Nye, Woodward, OK, Sharon Russell, McAlester, OK, Phyllis Davis, Elk City, OK, and Beverly Sloan, Amber, OK; two brothers, Jerry Nye, Weatherford, OK, and Jim Nye, Hesperia, CA; brother-in-law, Bill Palmer and sister-in-law, Margie Farmer, both of Alex, Oklahoma. Jack is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Nye will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Bradley, Oklahoma, with Rev. Cletis Lee officiating. He will be laid to rest beside Forrest at the Bradley cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of B. G. Boydston Funeral Home, Lindsay, Oklahoma.
