Novotny, Jr. passed from this life on Thursday, March 24, 2005 at Parkview Hospital in El Reno, OK. Joe is survived by wife Eloise of the home in Yukon, 5 children, Ronald Novotny, Richard Novotny, Jennie Box, Paul Beville, and Judy Turley, 11 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Agnes Skoch of Stillwater and Martha O. Reilly of Wichita, KS. His first wife, Betty Resneder, preceded him in death in 1962. Born in Chickasha, OK on July 23, 1923 to Joseph J. Sr. and Frances Janda, Joe graduated from Amber High School before joining the US Army. He served in the European Theater during WW II and was honorably discharged in August 1945. He contined to be a member of American Legion Post #34 in El Reno. Joe attended Oklahoma A&M (OSU) and later became employed with the US Dept. of Interior in 1975 as a Conservation Specialist. He served as Geary City Councilman for 16 years and was a member of the Lions Club. Joe was an avid gardener, always keeping his friends and relatives supplied with seasonal vegetables. He loved hunting, fishing, working with his antique tractors, and spending time with his family. Always active in his church, Joe was presently a member of St. John Nepomuk Parish in Yukon. He is a 65 year member of the Knights of Columbus, being elevated to 4th degree. Vigil services will be held at 5:00 p.m., Monday, March 28, 2005, at the Yanda & Son Chapel, Yukon, with Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 29 at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, Yukon. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, OK.
