Melvin Ray Nixon was born Feb. 5, 1942, in Brawley, Calif., and died on Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at his home in Stroud. ============================================ The Chickasha Express-Star 12 April 2002 MELVIN RAY NIXON Graveside funeral service for Melvin Ray Nixon, age 60, of Stroud, Oklahoma, formerly of Chickasha and Blanchard area, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2002, in the Greenhill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma. Melvin Ray Nixon, the son of Albert Nixon and Lela Dutton McKee, was born on February 5, 1942, in Brawley, California. He died on Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at his home in Stroud. Melvin moved to Oklahoma at a young age. He lived in Chickasha for several years and lived in the Blanchard area for many years. Melvin served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1964. He married Mary Williams on January 28, 1986, in Chickasha. Melvin had just recently moved to Stroud due to his health. He spent most of his life working as a master carpenter. He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers and one daughter. Survivors include: his mother, Lela McKee of Chickasha; his wife, Mary Nixon, of Stroud; daughter, Nancy Heusel, of Chickasha; son, Albert Nixon, of Oklahoma City; daughter, Brenda Miller, of Blanchard; daughter, Susie Davidson, of Blanchard; stepdaughter, Carol Nixon of Valley Brook; stepdaughter, Nancy Harris of Midwest City; stepdaughter, Donna Sanders, of Midwest City; brother, Harold Nixon, of Chickasha; brother, Bill Nixon, of Denver, Colorado; eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren. Services will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
