Harold "Jay" Nixon, Jr., age 64, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2002, in Felton, Delaware. He was born to Albert Jewel Nixon and Lela Lee (McKee) Dutton on September 17, 1938, in Bakersfield, California. Jay spent most of his life in the Oklahoma area. He was a self-employed welder before retirement. Jay spent his spare time fishing, painting, woodworking, and gardening. He was a member of the Church of God in Chickasha, American Legion Post 145, and United States Spanish War Veterans Colonization Project, Inc. Jay proudly served 9 years, 2 months and 14 days in the United States Army. During his service he was in Germany for 2 years, 1 month and 17 days. He received a Good Conduct medal with 2 loops and sharp shooter, SPE (T) E-4 as a Pole Lineman. Jay is survived by his mother, Lela McKee of Chickasha; children: Lillian Nixon of Felton, DE, Joy Martin of Perkins, and Jenny Poff of Commanche; brother: Billy Nixon of Denver, CO; stepsons: Denny Clanton of Golden, CO, Dane Clanton of Chickasha, and Darin Cll of Golden, CO; grandchildren: Brian Palmer of Lone Grove, Jennifer Palmer of Oklahoma City, Gage, Austin and Allie Martin of Perkins, Hayden, Timothy and Breanne Poff of Comanche, Misty, Amanda, Deanna and Jeremy Clanton of Golden, CO, and Cory and Chad of Oklahoma City. Jay was preceded in death by his wife, Pearlie Mae Nixon. They were married on December 3, 1994. She passed away August 25, 2001, in Chickasha, OK. His father; daughter: June Palmer, who passed away on March 2, 1987; stepson: Jerry Clanton, who passed away on November 17, 1999; and brothers: Harris, Melvin, and Ralph Nixon. Graveside services will be Saturday, September 28, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, OK, with Pastor Chick Davis, officiating, and Lillian Nixon, assisting. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post #23 of Lindsay. Memorial may be viewed online at www.boydstonfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are with B. G.
