Elmer Oblander was born July 31, 1916, and died on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 20 August 2004 ELMER OBLANDER Funeral service for Elmer Oblander, age 88, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2004, at the Epworth United Methodist Church. Rev. Don Horton will officiate, and Rev. Kim Domnick will assist. Elmer was born July 31, 1916, at Shattuck, Oklahoma, to Karl and Lillie Baker Oblander. He went to be with the Lord and Savior on August 18, 2004. Elmer grew up and attended school in Shattuck where he farmed, operated the Conoco Station, and had his own propane business. In 1976, he sold his business and moved to Bethany, Oklahoma, later working for Kerr-McGee. In 1977, he was united in marriage to Ruby Kelln in Yukon, where they made their home for twenty years. They later moved to Chickasha to be near their family. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leon Oblander; and daughter, Augusta Leah. Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Ruby Oblander of the home; daughter, Harriett Wahler and husband, Robert of Ft. Worth; son, Harry Kelln and wife, Shelba of Chickasha; grandchildren, Kristi Wahler of Dallas, Cheri Kelln of Dallas, Pfc. Nicholas Kelln of Fort Gordon, Georgia, Heather Weber and husband, Ashley of Dallas; brother, Leroy Oblander of Enid; brother, Robert Oblander of Shattuck; brother, Harry Erick of Shattuck; aunt, Lillie Holladay of New Plymouth, Idaho; uncle, Mike Jaroz of Weiser, Idaho; many nieces and nephews. Interment will be in the Shattuck Memorial Cemetery, Shattuck, Oklahoma, at 3:30 p.m. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home. "You therefore, are now having grief; but I shall see you again and your hearts will rejoice and your joy no one will take from you."
