OSBORNE Funeral services for John R. Osborne of Norman were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 8, at the First Baptist Church, Verden, with Rev. C. W. Taylor and Rev. Harold Watson, officiating. Burial was in the Verden Cemetery with the Hansen Funeral Home in charge. Graveside rites were conducted by Masonic Lodge No. 329, Verden. Music was rendered by Mrs. Aubrey Finley, Mrs. Harry Dodson, Mrs. Dale Henricks and Mrs. Donald Brown. They sany "What A Friend" and "Beyond the Sunset." Mrs. Ruth Stephens of Maysville sang a solo, "Jesus, Savior Pilot Me." Mrs. Ed Nelson was pianist. Casket bearers were Roy Rice and Edgell Stephens of Maysville and Roy Bivens, Debs Patterson, Sid McVey and George McVey. John Richardson Osborne was born April 14, 1873 at Anadarko, Okla. Passed away in Norman, Okla., April 4, 1956 at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 20 days. He was united in marriage to Lucy Williams first and to this union was born two children, later to Alice Fitzpatrick and to this union was born seven children, four having preceded him in death. Mr. Osborne has lived in this community all of his life farming north of Verden. He was one of the organizers of the Masonic Lodge here. He was converted in the Storey Baptist Church. Those left to mourn his departure are his wife, Mrs. Alice Osborne of Torrance, Calif;, children, Melton E. (Bud) Osborne of Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. Emma Lopez of Anadarko, Okla., Mrs. Thelma McDaniel of Oceanside, Calif., Mrs. Mae Walker and Mrs. Mary Dene Rice of Torrance, Calif. Fourteen grandchildren; one brother, Charley Pruner of Chickasha, Okla., and one sister, Mrs. Mattie Sturm of Fort Cobb, Okla. Also a host of other relatives and friends.
