Otey succumbed to bronchial pneumonia at his home northwest of Verden Thursday morning at 130 o'clock. Mr. Otey had been ill a few days, when death came. His wife was quite ill with the same malady, but is recovering. Mr. Otey is an old citizen of this community having lived south of Verden a number of years but the past year or more he has lived northwest of town. The funeral services were held at 230 Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church with the pastor Rev. N. T. Peak officiating. Interment will be made in the Verden cemetery with the Hansen Funeral Home in charge of burial arrangements. Mr. Otey was 72 years, 7 months, and 29 days old at his departure. He is survived by his wife, three sons and four daughters; sons are Leonard, Thomas and Edward; the daughters Mrs. Ruth Talkington, Mrs. Ruby Patton, Lois and Blanche Otey. Submitted by Sandi Carter
