Tariq passed away on August 25, 2001, in Denver, Colorado. He was born August 11, 1972, to Charles and Vanessa Palmer in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Tariq grew up in Chickasha where he was an outstanding basketball player. He earned a basketball scholarship for college and attended Western Oklahoma Junior College in Altus, Oklahoma. Tariq moved to Denver seven years ago and was welcomed by his uncle and aunt, Chuck and Wanez Fletcher, along with cousins Nikita and Latour. During his stay in Denver, Tariq owned and operated a janitorial service company. He was known for his friendly nature, easy-going manner, and great smile. Tariq will be greatly missed by his many friends and family. He is survived by his parents: Vanessa, and Charles; one brother: Kenan; maternal grandparents: Roy and Clara Bryant; paternal grandparents: Willie and Dorothy Palmer; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, loved ones, and friends. Viewing will be at the Brown-Christian Funeral Chapel, Friday, August 31, from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Brown-Christian Funeral Home, with Ricky A. Brown, funeral director, in charge of services.
