Persons or organizations desiring to use this material for purposes other than stated above must obtain the written consent of the file contributor. ====================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 21 February 2002 Gordon Wayne (Paw Paw) Payne Funeral service for Gordon Wayne Payne, age 76, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2002, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. John Freeman will officiate. Gordon Wayne Payne was born the son of Grover Payne and Ollie Mae Countess Payne on January 24, 1926, in Logan County, Oklahoma. He died on Wednesday, February 20, 2002, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He married Juanita L. Guess in 1946 in Kansas. They have been married for fifty-six years. Wayne grew up on the farm near Crescent, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. After his military service, he worked in the oil field until 1968. Gordon moved to Chickasha in July of 1968 and purchased Paw Paw's Hamburgers. He operated and served as cook at Paw Paw's for thirty years. He attended the Southern Hill Baptist Church. Gordon was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Eagle's Lodge, the V.F.W. Lodge and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, and four sisters. Survivors include: his wife: Juanita Payne, of Chickasha; daughter: Jacquetta Hampton, of Tulsa; daughter and husband: Sheila and Ron Raczynski, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; son and wife: Rex and Teresa Payne, of Chickasha; son and wife: Gordon and Pat Payne, of College Grove, Tennessee; and son: Lloyd Payne, of Houston, Texas; brother and wife: Doyle and Loretta Payne, of Checotah; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
