Alonzo Dean "Lonnie" Phariss was born July 5, 1950, in Chickasha, and died on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, in Chickasha. Services are under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 27 October 2002 ALONZO DEAN "LONNIE" PHARISS Memorial services for Lonnie Phariss, 52, of Chickasha, will be held Monday, October 28, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel, with Jerry Williams officiating. Lonnie Phariss was born July 5, 1950, in Chickasha, the son of Haskell Phariss and Betty Nelson Phariss. He died Wednesday, October 23, 2002, in Chickasha. Lonnie grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1968. He served in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the USS Rich and earning a National Defense Service Medal. Lonnie married Vanetta Hunt in 1973, and to this union his son Brad was born. He later married Lois Long in 1994, in Oklahoma City. He had been employed as a truck driver and also employed in the oil fields, Gabriel, Chickasha Iron Works and Hart Manufacturing. His present employment at the time of his death was CM Trailers. Lonnie enjoyed fishing, woodcrafting and loved watching sports, especially the Sooners, Forty-Niners and the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Team. He also loved collecting bronze eagles. He was very patriotic and loved being an American. Lonnie was a Baptist by faith. He was preceded in death by his father and a stepdaughter Tonya Rodgers. Survivors include his wife, Lois, of the home; his mother Betty Phariss, of Chickasha; one son, Brad Phariss, of Chickasha' three stepdaughters, Kristen Long, of Norman, Mrs. Jeff (Shelly) McConnell, Mrs. Dennis (Missie) Keef, both of Norge; five brothers, David Phariss, Mike Phariss and Keith Phariss, all of Chickasha, Steve Phariss, of Rush Springs, Gary Phariss, of Ardmore and four step-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
