Phariss, 57, were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Verden Baptist Church with Rev. C. W. Taylor officiating, assisted by Rev. G. W. Gaidaroff, pastor. Mrs. C. W. Hamill, Miss Denzil Lamar, Miss Lyle Osborne and Miss Nan Bilbrey sang "God Will Take Care of You," "When I Shall See Him Face to Fact" and "It Is Well With My Soul," Mrs. I. H. Bilbrey accompanied them. Casket bearers were Alvy Norman, Luther Reed, Finis Clark, Sr., A. H. Hawkins, Clarence Lightfield. Interment was in the Verden Cemetery. Mr. Phariss died early Friday morning at his home east of Verden following a heart attack. He came to Grady County from Waurika 27 years ago. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maggie Phariss; four sons, Joe E., Jr., of Woodward, H. K. of the home address and Reginald and Haskell of Chickasha; a daughter Mrs. Harvey House, Lawton; parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Phariss, Addington; two brothers, Fred of Addington and Clyde of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. George Kendrick, Okinawa island and six grandchildren.
