All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Rush Springs Cemetery--Rush Springs OK Rush Springs Gazette Feb 6, 1947 Funeral Services for Berta Viola Parish were held Wednesday afternoon February 5 in the Church of Christ. Services were conducted by Brother C. W. Spencer assisted by Brother E.T. Russell of Chickasha. Flower girls were Mrs. Henry Urban, Opal Urban; Tye Dorman; Alma Lee Mullican; Helen Lowry; Myrl McWilliams'; Essie Smith; Ruth Miller and Corrine Tunnell. Honorary pall bearers were C.E. Bernard; John Baker; L.V. Morris O.F. Johnson and Bill Harris. Active pall bearers were Charlie Howell; Rufus Dorman, Bill Heilman; Y. H. Cherry; R.S. Atchison; and Homer Crittendon The song, "Good Night and Good Morning' was sung by Mrs. Raymond Gibbs and Mrs. Waldo Wettengel. The choir was under the direction of H.O. Foster of Forth Worth, TX. Interment was in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Calloway and Mullican. Berta Viola Jones was born December 19, 1876 at Fairfield, Freestone County, TX and departed this life February 3, 1947 at the age of 70 years 1 month and 14 days. She was married to T.C. Parish on January 11, 1893. They moved to Rush Springs which was Indian territory 41 years ago in August of 1906. To this union 10 children were born all of whom are living and all present for the services. She was a devoted wife, mother, and above all a Christian. She obeyed the gospel in her early life and has lived a beautiful and useful life these many years. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband; Thomas Clay Parish, and six sons: Benjamin Arthur of Norman; Carl of Dallas, TX; W. Aubrey of Los Angeles, CA; R. Finley and Rufus of Rush Springs and James H. of Los Angles.
