Aaron Austin Purcell was born December 3, 1917, in Gertie, Oklahoma, the son of James and Sarah Pound Purcell. He died Sunday, November 17, 2002, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Austin Purcell was a loving and devoted husband to Naoma Purcell for 33 years. He was a sergeant in the United States Army where he served in WWII. He lived with his wife Naoma and daughter Debbie in California and Arizona where he was a farmer and a barber. He and his wife moved to Oklahoma after he retired in 1977. While in Oklahoma he trained and showed horses. Austin Purcell’s passions in life were God, his family, his country and his horses. We will miss him. Austin married June Purcell in Kingston, Oklahoma, where they made their home. Austin was a member of the Church of Christ in Kingston, Oklahoma, and a member of the Yuma Sheriff’s Posse. He was preceded in death by both parents, one brother, Bishop Purcell, one sister, Louis Purcell, his wife, Naoma Purcell, and one stepson, Earl Dixon. Survivors include his wife: June Purcell, of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Larry Fuller, of Overbrook, Oklahoma; stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Dean and Sue Dixon of Yuma, Arizona; and one sister, Nancy Wilson, of California City, California.
