JAMES W.F. PRUITT The Soul of James Pruitt, went to be with his Lord on Monday, August 8, 2005. James (Jim) was born April 13, 1931 to Drewery Fred and Josie Lee Pruitt, in Rush Springs, Grady County, Oklahoma. James was the sixth of six children. In early childhood he moved with his mother to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The family moved to Midwest City, Oklahoma in 1944. Jim attended school in Midwest City High School where he was a member of the band and later the foot ball team. While attending High School, Jim joined the Oklahoma 45th Division National Guard. His membership in the 45th Division had a lasting effect on his life. The 45th Division was called to active duty in Aug. 1950 and Jim stayed on when the Division was released back to the state. Jim had 20 years active duty with the U. S. Army. August 1950 to August 1970. Jim served in Japan, Korea, Germany, Panama Canal, and Two assignments to Viet Nam. Major James W. F. Pruitt, Infantry, retired from the Army July 31, 1970 at Fort Riley, KS. Following his retirement, James returned to school at Oklahoma University, attaining a BBA in June 1973. Jim's employment after graduation was with the U.S DEPT OF LABOR, as an Auditor. The OESC as an auditor. And self- employed as the COMPUTER TUROR. Jim was a member of First Nazarene Church of Midwest City, The American Legion and PHI THETA KAPPA. Major Pruitt is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Pete Pruitt and Paul Pruitt and grandson Jason Meade. He is survived by his daughter Carroll Pruitt Meade (Dwight) of Aurora, CO, his son Michael Pruitt (Debra) and grandchildren Travis and Shannon Pruitt of Virginia Beach, VA, granddaughter Letta Hinton (Billy), great-grandson Lane Thomas, former wife Joette Pruitt, sister-in-law Gayle Cochran, his brother Garland Pruitt and two sisters Dorothy Vice and Fern Cook and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be at 7:00 P. M. Friday, August 12, 2005 in the Paylor Dignity Memorial Chapel. Inurnment will be at Arlington Memory Gardens.
