PROTZMAN SERVICES TODAY Funeral services for Mr. C. W. Protzman, 82, will be held at 2 p.m. today (Friday, November 7) at 2:30 p.m. at the First Methodist Church, Verden, with the pastor, Rev. O. W. York, officiating. Interment will be in the Verden Cemetery with the Hansen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Protzman passed away at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Oklahoma City. He was a pioneer resident of Verden, coming here in 1902. He was a prominent business man and farmer, and a member of the board of directors of The First National Bank of Verden for many years. He had been in ill health the past several months. Survivors include his wife Fanny; two sons, Charles Elwood of Tulsa, and Victor B. of Del City; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Berry of Oklahoma City, and two grandchildren. ========== The Verden News 14 November 1958 LAST RITES FOR PIONEER CITIZEN HELD NOV. 7 Funeral services for Mr. C. W. Protzman were held at the First Methodist Church, Verden, on Friday, November 7, at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. O. W. York, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Verden cemetery with the Hansen Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Music was furnished by Mrs. Donald Brown, Mrs. C. E. Warburton, Mrs. Dale Hendricks and Mrs. Velma Eskew. They sang "Nearer My Got To Thee," "Abide With Me," and "What A Friend." Mrs. B. E. Heisler was pianist. Casket bearers were Bert E. Heisler, Leon Seebeck, Wylie B. Reed, P. S. Kern, John N. Kern and W. J. Lowe. Charles Wilson Protzman was born February 4, 1876, in Severy, Kansas, and passed away in Bellevue Hospital at Oklahoma City at 3 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 1958, at the age of 82 years, 9 months and one day. Mr. Protzman spent his early manhood in Canada and Alaska in the forestry service and as a surveyor, and came to Verden, Oklahoma, in 1907, where he met Fanny Raby, whom he married at Chickasha, Oklahoma, June 16, 1909, and they have resided in Verden continuously since that time. When Mr. Protzman first came to Verden, and for many years thereafter, he was engaged in the grocery business and later became engaged in the cattle, cotton, and grain business and took an active part in civic affairs. He also farmed southeast of Verden until he had an accident in May of last year which caused him to be hospitalized until his passing. Mr. Protzman was predeceased by his daughter, Frances Maypha Protzman, who passed away in infancy, and is now survived by his wife, Fanny Protzman, who resides at their home in Verden, and by one daughter, Mrs. Austin Berry of Oklahoma City, and two sons, Elwood Protzman of Tulsa, and Victor B.
