All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Chickasha Daily Express 2 May 1985 JAMES DUANE PRATHER Funeral services for James Duane Prather, age 49, of 108 N. 2nd St., Verden, were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 1085 at the Verden First Baptist Church with Rev.Burl Mackey, pastor, officiating. Eulogy was given by Pat Robinson of Chickasha. Rev. Bob Willis of Oklahoma City was assisting. Masonic Services were conducted by Rev. Russell Long. Mr. Prather was born March 31, 1936 at Mountain View, OK and he died April 27, 1985 at OK City, OK. He and Shirley Ann Nance were married on September 12, 1959 at Carnegie. Mr. Prather graduated from Carnegie High School in 1954. He moved to Verden in 1971 and had worked for Tom's Foods Limited for the past sixteen years. Mr. Prather was active in the Verden Masonic Lodge where he had attained 32nd degree. He was a member of the Verden Lions Club and had served four years on the Verden School Board. Mr. Prather was a Verden City Councilman until this year. He had coached Little League Baseball for eight years. He was preceded in death by his father, Ewell M. Prather. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Prather, of the home, 2 daughters, Mrs. Terry (Robin) Eaton of Chickasha, Mrs. Keith (Shawn) Choat of Verden, 1 son, David Prather of Verden, his mother, Mrs. Orpha Prather of Carnegie, 4 brothers, Bill Prather of OK City, Belvie Prather of Anadarko, J. W.
