All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 16 June 2005 CHARLES JEAN PORTER Funeral service for Charles Jean Porter, 78, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2005 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Charles Jean Porter was born September 9, 1926 in Alex, Oklahoma the son of Frank and Melissa [Walters] Porter and died June 14, 2005 in Chickasha. Mr. Porter and Betty Jo Smith were married November 13, 1943 in Anadarko, Oklahoma. He worked for Kenyon Auto Store until March, 1945 when he was drafted in the U.S. Army and served during World War II for 18 months in the Philippines. Mr. Porter worked for the County for 8 years, for Parker Drilling for 17 years, the State Department Dairy Commissioner A.I. Breeding for 20 years and was a farmer and rancher for the last 30 years. He lived in the Tabler area for 61 years. Mr. Porter was a member of the Hereford Association, Cattleman's Association and he worked with the 4H and FFA with his children. He was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Porter of the home; four daughters and their husbands, Mr. and Mrs. Bob (Charlene) Cantrell of Blanchard, Mr. and Mrs. Gary (Linda) Robbins of Chickasha, Mr. and Mrs. Chuck (Sue) Beck of Mustang, Mr. and Mrs. Marty (Melissa) Brownen of Chickasha; one son, Chuck Porter of Purcell; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; four sisters, Frankie Clark of Wagner, Claudine Reed of Oklahoma City, Reva Nixon of Blanchard, Reba Hudson of Oklahoma City.
