All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Fairlawn Cemetery--Chickasha OK The Chickasha Express-Star 17 May 2004 EDITH LEE PARNELL Funeral service for Edith Lee Parnell, age 97, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:30 Tuesday, May 18, 2004, in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Edith Lee Parnell was born September 2, 1906, in Springfield, Missouri. She was the daughter of John Madison and Stella (Derrick) Smith. She died Saturday May 15, 2004, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She and Dorsey Parnell were married January 1, 1931. He preceded her in death on December 9, 1987. She had lived in the Chickasha area since 1931. She and her husband farmed and ranched east of Chickasha. She moved to the Sterling House in Chickasha 8 years ago. She was a member of First Christian Church, an active member of the 20th Century Sunday School Class and Rogers Church Circle. She was also a member of the Friend Home Demonstration Club. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, April Baker, and stepson LaVelle Parnell. Also by three brothers, Herman Smith, Earl Smith, and Everett Smith, and one sister, Oma Brooks. Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Ramsey and her husband Perry of Chickasha, and Melanie Machado and her husband Kernon of Camarillo, CA; one sister, Rubye Hoepfner of Eufaula, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Stephen and Donna Ramsey of Coppell, TX, Jack and Deana Ramsey of Centennial, Colo., Dorsey Ramsey of Chickasha, Alysia and George Hauser of Georgetown, TX, Heather and Johnny Underwood of Mansfield, TX; 11 great grandchildren; the family of Lavelle Parnell; and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery of Chickasha under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
