All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Ninnekah Cemetery--Ninnekah OK Chickasha Daily Express Friday, February 13, 1998 NANNIE MAE PAYNE Funeral services for Nannie Mae Payne, 82, of Ashville, Ala., formerly of Ninnekah, will be held Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, at 10:30 am in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. Nannie Mae Payne was born Jan. 29, 1916, in Mangum, Okla., the daughter of James T. McCaul and Carrie Ann (Hammond) McCaul. She died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, in Birmingham, Ala. Nannie grew up in Mangum, Okla., where she attended public school. She married Clarence Gilbert Payne on Jan. 31, 1932, in Mangum. Nannie had been employed as a sales clerk with the Ben Franklin Five and Dime Store in downtown Chickasha for many years. She was the first worman hired by the new T.G.&Y. Store, when it came to Chickasha and helped set-up the store for its opening. She had been a retail sales clerk for over 17 years. Nannie was a Baptist. Her hobbies included gardening and sewing. She was preceded in death by both parents, one brother, one sister, one grandchild, two great-grandchildren, and her husband, Clarence Gilbert on March 3, 1995. Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Laura Woods of Chickasha, Gayle Wright of Oklahoma City, Linda and Jack Phillips of Ashville, Ala., Lessie and W. L. Chaney of Ninnekah; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and JoAnn Payne of Ninnekah; one brother, Charles McCaul, of Ardmore; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
